Four Exchange Students Meet Here For Reunion
Two Richardson teens spent six weeks in Germany while German counterparts stayed in the United States under Volkswagen of America sponsorship. Debbie Harlow and Wendell Ashley hosted Zezschwitz and Biek. both pairs conducted tours in Europe and the United States, including Berlin, Venice, Austria, New York City, the World’s Fair and Washington, D. C. The program ended and the students returned home, with language not a barrier thanks to frequent English use. Continued on Page 7.

Richardson Fair Opens Tonight on Greenville Ave Grounds
The Jaycee sponsored Richardson Community Fair debuts tonight at 6 p.m. on Greenville Avenue School grounds with nightly shows in Greenville Avenue Auditorium. Highlights include Toppo the Clown, Uncle Walt the Magician, Audie Andrews and Irene Ward, plus two Nike Missiles Ajax and Hercules. A Civil Defense exhibit You and Survival and two one act plays Sun Up and Curse You Jack Dalton feature. Proceeds support Richardson schools.

Trustees Set Huge Budget Shape Policy
The Richardson Independent School District board approved a record 9,011,72654 budget for 1964 65 with an all time high rise of 473 903 98 over 1963 64. Enrollment is projected at 17 067 pupils at 312 83 per pupil. The meeting also authorized selling three driver training cars, approved a masonry shop building at Richardson Junior High, and funded a 1965 Econ Van for hot lunch transport to three schools lacking cafeterias. Eighty two personnel changes included 61 new teachers and seven non professional staff. New policies restrict student gift giving to staff and revise pupil discipline property damage and sick leave rules.

City Council Studies Comprehensive Zoning Proposal
The Richardson City Council discussed and passed for further study a comprehensive zoning plan northern of Arapaho Road and west of Central Expressway. It would permit offices up to four stories, 100 percent masonry, plus many business and service classifications including theaters and medical offices. The council also reviewed Arnold Webb’s request for business zoning on a south Arapaho Road tract, held for study, with a shopping center intent. In other business, the council awarded Alma Road contract to Texas Billithic Co. for 263,695.80 and received bids for a Canyon Creek water tank, with low bid 196,500. An ordinance to rezone Arapaho Road service area to industrial was adopted for George Cullum’s request. city attorney to finalize.
