Richardson Police Probe Theft and Fire Loss
Richardson police reported a major theft at 303 Lawndale with two 10 speed bicycles stolen and losses totaling about 198 dollars. Three bicycles were taken at 2604 Ridgebriar Place for 130 dollars. those bikes were recovered. An investigation found a boy beaten with eggs at an address on Hillsdale. An auto theft occurred at 421 Grace Dr valued at 200 dollars. A break in at 201 Murray Lane involved a tape deck and two speakers worth 45 dollars. Burglary at 318 Phillips. watch and coin purse with 29 dollars inside, total 36 dollars. A .45 pistol was stolen from a vehicle on 1303 Northlake Dr. A 13-year-old girl was arrested for shoplifting at Richardson Terrace Shopping Center and later released. Firefighters battled a barn fire in Buckingham. the barn was a total loss with 2000 dollars estimated damage. The fire was blamed on a child at play with fire.

A&M moves Division HQ from Denton to Dallas Center
College Station reports the District 4 headquarters of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service will relocate from Denton to the new Texas A&M University Research and Extension Center in Dallas after September 1. Researchers from the Denton Agricultural Research Station will also move, with the center set on about 380 acres near Renner to serve diverse audiences across agriculture and information services.

Research Foundation to suspend operation at Renner
Texas Research Foundation will suspend operations on September 1 ending 28 years as a major agricultural research station funded by contributions. Led by T S Austin the Renner site covered 655 acres in Dallas and Collin counties with land labs and buildings. Founding director C L Lundell built a program praised for fertilizer, soil, grasses, corn hybrids and soybeans with field trials across 83 sites since 1962. The foundation awarded over 150000 in rural life and agricultural science prizes while reporting 100 percent income growth in the 36 county Renner region from 1962 to 1972. The small Renner staff of 26 operated without tax money, maintaining fiscal strength to meet current needs.
