Richardson police investigated a 1:20 a.m. assault on Louise Shipley by an unknown white male as she and Georgia Slattery walked from 331 Maple to 323 Maple. Shipley suffered facial injuries and purse theft, while Slattery was treated for lacerations and bruises. Burglaries were noted, including a forced entry at Betty Leener’s 803 Edgewood home with $675 reported stolen. Ed Shores led officers to a red cash register dumped near Renner Road and Central Expressway, later linked to a theft from the Fina station on East Belt Line August 14.

The Dallas Texas A&M University Research and Extension Center marks its first anniversary on Coit Road, Renner. The center offers services from multiple Texas A&M units and has expanded beyond agriculture to consumer affairs, home economics, youth work, and urban environment programs. With a staff of 50 specialists, annual budget around 900000, and free short courses, the center serves urban and rural residents and plans additional centers in Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi. Since opening, over 20000 participants have attended workshops and courses.

Mrs Helen Wilcox a Lucas Texas resident in her early thirties was beaten bound and gagged and left in a roadside ditch on Sycamore Road in Parker three miles northeast of Plano A passerby spotted her at 3 30 a m and Plano Police Sergeant Hancock and Parker ambulance were notified she was brought to Parkland Hospital treated and released Sheriff George Smith said the case is under further investigation

Garland Independent School District Vice President Harris Hill seeks attorney Earl Luna opinion on a possible tax credit for property on Lake Ray Hubbard.
