Richardson Council OKs two to North Texas Municipal Water District
The Richardson City Council quietly approved nominations for two representatives to the North Texas Municipal Water District. Jack McJunkin and Marvin Youngblood, both long involved in city affairs and with ties to the construction industry, were chosen and will be seated at the district's August 23 meeting. The district oversees future water needs through 2000 and may direct waste disposal and reclamation projects. As a member, Richardson will buy most of its water from the district, potentially all if pipelines are built to the southwest Richardson area.

Richardson to host 15th New Teacher Luncheon
About 375 people are expected at the 15th annual New Teacher Luncheon in Berkner High School cafeteria. The event, sponsored by the Richardson Chamber of Commerce with PTAs and other groups, welcomes roughly 200 new teachers and district staff on their first day in the district. Cecil Baugh notes the luncheon introduces newcomers to the school system and city as the district begins a new school year. Representatives from 44 local firms will attend. Classes start in a week, though the new staff day is today.
