Richardson opens school gyms for winter recreation
Richardson Parks and Recreation will use Mark Twain Elementary and Aldridge Elementary gyms for public indoor recreation this winter when schools are closed. Hours tentatively 4 to 9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays. Aldridge serves northern residents, Mark Twain eastern Richardson. Cooperation with Plano ISD involves a joint supervisor and shared staffing arrangements.

Boy Scout Troop 778 Joins National Jamboree
Troop 778 known as The Flipping Chimps from First Methodist Church of Richardson will travel by chartered bus to the 1973 National Scout Jamboree at Farragut State Park Idaho and Lake Coeur dAlene. About 70 000 scouts attend a weeklong event in camps and competitions from August 1 to 8 with guests including Nixon Spitz Hope Conway and others.
