The Richardson Fire Department logged 55 fire runs in July with 30 ambulance calls and 36 man hours. For the first seven months of 1968 total calls hit 757, up 293 from 1967, with property value at risk estimated at 1,931,700 and insurance losses about 2,636,820. Causes included careless smoking and children playing with fire, with no fire deaths this year.
The City Plan Commission schedules two public hearings at 8 p.m. in City Hall. Zoning File 6827 concerns O.M. zoning on a one acre tract on Floyd Road with requests to delete site plan requirements and apply certain ordinance provisions only to the tract. Zoning File 6828 seeks changes to permit duplexes and modified yard sizes on a 62,839 acre area along Belt Line Road between Plano and Jupiter Roads. Howard D. Police filed assault to murder charges Wednesday night with Justice of the Peace George Patzig against 19 year old Dwain Norm Lindley of Farmers Branch. The shooting at Belt Line Road and Mimosa Drive left 16 year old Daniel Othel Lawler of Lewisville injured by shotgun pellets.
Memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society in Dallas total over 25 000 in the last eleven months, with Ferguson stating the figure is more than 8 000 above the same period a year ago.
