Richardson Fair Parade Plans Spark Big Community Float Show
Jaycee organizers Dan Garza and John Riley announced plans for a grand finale parade on Saturday August 22 at 10 am. Thirteen organizations will enter floats on trucks trailers and wagons with trophies for best decorated truck or trailer best decorated farm wagon and most unusual float. The route forms at 9 am Greenville and Arapaho and marches to Belt Line Floyd Road. The parade includes Marine Color Guard bands drill teams dignitaries and beauty contestants with no horses in the lineup.

Herbert McJunkin reported a Dallas lumber company truck delivered 140 bundles of cedar shingles to 415 Ridgecrest on Thursday. By Saturday night debris showed truck tracks and the shingles valued at 533 dollars were missing from the under construction residence.

Dishwasher Held In Rape Slaying Of Two Sisters
In Jackson Wyoming a 19 year old dishwasher Andrew Pixley of The Dalles Oregon faced murder charges in the rape slayings of Deborah McAuliffe 12 and Cynthia 8 daughters of Cook County Judge Robert McAuliffe of Maywood Illinois. The victims were found dead at the Wort Hotel vacation site with Deborah killed by a blunt blow and Cynthia strangled and raped according to coroner J T Benson.

Figures Don’t Lie Richardson Water Use Soars In July
Rising temperatures pushed Richardson water use to near record levels in July with 319,879,000 gallons pumped by the Water Department. The city added 78 new meters, reaching 8,624 total, boosting estimated population to 33,202. Sewage pumped totaled 79,694,000 gallons, up from last year. The month’s daily average was 10,318,677 gallons, about 4.18 million more than July prior.

Richardson youth escapes squad car then surrenders
An 18 year old Richardson youth who was drunk leaped from a squad car and fled after disturbance officers found him drunk at a restaurant. He eluded two patrolmen in darkness before returning home with his father and was charged and fined for drunkenness.

Kennedy family roadside stand closes on Cape Cod
Hyannisport Massachusetts reports one of Cape Cod’s best known roadside stands shutting down after a successful run. Run by Kennedy and related families with friends, proceeds totaling just over 100 dollars were donated to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Library and to aid retarded children. A sign urged visitors to buy for the Kennedy Library and for the children. The stand sold JFK souvenirs and Cape Cod resort trinkets.
