At the Richardson Symphony Orchestra annual meeting Philip Bates was elected president of the board for 1967 68. Bates of Richardson heads Omega T Systems Inc and previously worked at Texas Instruments. The season includes four subscription concerts and a youth concert under Chris Xeros with seventy musicians. The Richardson Symphony Orchestra Guild led by Mrs Philip Bates Jr begins its second year.

Air Traffic Control Course Offered by Dallas Evening Schools
The Dallas Evening Schools System starts a nine month air traffic control theory course on September 6 at 2218 Bryan Street. Led by Charles R. Scott of the FAA, the program uses FAA textbooks and costs about 20 cents per hour for six hours daily, Monday through Friday. Eligibility requires a high school completion. Charles E Wilson Jr Named Pharmacist Of The Year
Charles E Wilson Jr co owner of Arapaho Professional Pharmacy in Arapaho Village was named Pharmacist Of The Year by the Texas Pharmaceutical Association at its Corpus Christi convention. He is the first Richardson pharmacist to win the award and the second from Dallas area for his work on a Dallas County pharmacy advertising code and leading the Dallas County Pharmaceutical Society which became the outstanding society in Texas. He is a University of Houston College of Pharmacy graduate and has chaired the TPA House of Delegates and ethics and employer employee relations committees. He and his family live in Richardson at 1901 North Waterview Drive.

Texas Drivers To Have Colorful License Tags
The Texas Highway Department plans reflectorized license plates in color starting next spring. Black and white plates will end, with new colors requiring a 30 cent extra per set. Rates next year rise by vehicle weight brackets from 12 to 55 cents per 100 pounds plus the color surcharge.
