Collins Radio to Install 500 Mile Microwave Network
Collins Radio Company will install a 500 mile microwave system for Western Farmers Electric Cooperative in a contract over 1 million dollars. The 22 station network links 60 000 customers across 70 000 square miles in Western Oklahoma North Central Texas and South Central Kansas with 18 switching centers and automatic road control. Western Farmers, based in Anadarko, serves 12 member systems and the project aims to enable power distribution control from three generation plants. The system also provides voice communications among dispatch centers. In a related item a separate NASA funded project awards an 8 784 dollar contract to the Oklahoma State University Research Foundation for nose cone and circuit work for a GRCSW rocket experiment at Richardson.

The Dixieland Seven from The Levee in Dallas will perform Dixieland music for 600 at Greenville Ave School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday Aug 20 as a feature of the 1964 Richardson Fair. French motorist killed by road sign in Turin crash
Andre Baugier, a French businessman, died after a road sign torn from a passing car pierced his vehicle in Turin. Police say the sign pole acted like a spear, wounding him fatally while his wife was injured and their two children escaped unharmed. he died at the hospital minutes later. his wife is expected to recover.
