Professor's laser could be communications key
University of Texas at Dallas physicist Carl Collins leads research on a charged-transfer laser that could route global communications on a single high-energy light beam. The device uses helium and nitrogen to store and transfer energy in about 21 billionths of a second, with grants totaling 190000 supporting ongoing development.

Dallas optician arrested for prescription fraud and theft
A 23 year old Dallas optician, Roger Dale Fite of 3596 Inwood Rd, was arrested Sunday after presenting an altered prescription at Sun Rexall drugs. Police added theft charges when four bottles of capsules were found on him.
