Richardson ISD announces enrollment for new students with junior high and high school entries starting Aug 2. Elementary enrollment is Aug 16 and 17, with 8:30 am to 3:30 pm hours, birth certificates and immunization records encouraged for timely class placement.
Richardson Independent School District schedules early dismissal for first graders Aug 23 to Sept 10 to allow parent conferences. Daily hours vary by grade and campus with bus supervision 2:45 3:30 pm. Cafeteria meals priced 60 cents for plate lunch 10 cent vegetables 15 cent milk. vending and token meal options noted.
A nine day hunt by family and neighbors for a possibly rabid stray ended Friday when the dog, found a mile from where Julie Hodson was bitten, was identified by Mrs. Hodson and later confirmed rabies free. The dog was found dead, likely hit by a car, and the community delivered over 950 door to door notices. Julie Hodson, age four, was to begin rabies shots the day after the dog’s discovery.
In a rapid reversal, the Soviet Union announced it would remain in the Olympic Games barely 12 hours after threatening to withdraw its team. The decision was disclosed Saturday, easing chaos sparked by the last-minute threat.
