July prices held steady from June with a 15 item market basket averaging 13.96 across six stores, 23.21 higher than March 1973. June’s basket rose 4.3 percent from May, while coffee price spikes loom due to a Brazilian freeze and a 20 cent wholesale hike by General Foods.
Lome Allen of Richardson, former Allen's Cleaners owner, campaigns Hyjonijet a two year old filly by Easy Jet at Ruidoso Downs New Mexico in the Rainbow Futurity worth 103000 for first. Jockey Jerry Nikodemus and trainer Bubba Cas Clo back the effort as Allen farms and breeds horses at his property north of Richardson.
Mary Jan Bills led a citywide effort at Richardson Recreation Center to collect newspapers for a week. Children in 21 parks contributed, with four parks daily aiding toward a final campfire cookout prize at Prairie Creek Park for top donors. The Texas Insurance Board requires Argonaut Insurance Co. to reduce its base rate of 388 dollars per patient bed for hospital policies or exit Texas. The move aims to lower premiums amid regulatory scrutiny and market impacts.
The Richardson Chamber of Commerce seeks participants for the East Texas Chamber industrial tour to California from Sept 28 to Oct 2. Don E. Holland of the American National Bank in Garland announced that local businessmen and bank stockholders bought control from the Dynamerica Corporation of Richardson. The purchasing group, already stockholders and board members, includes H. B. Allard, Thomas Browning, Reg Buchanan, and R. Sandy Hallman, with diverse local business roles.
