Richardson Community Concert Band Opens Season In Park
Richardson announces season opener for the Community Concert Band in the park at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with guest conductors and a lively program including Overture to the Barber of Seville, Florentiner March, Irish Folk Song Suite and Henry Mancini medley. Local volunteers from engineers to teachers form the band led by Joe Frank with conductors Billie Nero Robert Floyd Michael Connors and guest conductors Susan Brown and Byron Felder. The Richardson Daily News will feature a series on the city boards and commissions with named members from zoning to civil service in future editions.

Rabies scare ends for local youngster Rhone Renfro
Rhone Renfro will not need rabies shots after his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill G. Renfro, traced the dog that bit him. A Richardson Daily News story helped locate the dog’s owners, who learned of the incident from a neighbor and were away on vacation. The dog had current rabies vaccinations, confirming no shots for Rhone.

Fire destroys sheds at UT-D in early morning blaze
A spokesman for O Rourke Construction Co estimated losses at about 10000 from a fire that destroyed two aluminum sheds at the UT D construction site near Renner Road and Orchard Ridge. Fire was reported at 3 17 a m and knocked down by 3 40 a m. Cause not yet determined. Damages included tools and gasoline cans. Additional incidents: window damage at a Richardson scraper and front end loader, and two 14 year olds charged with breaking into a vehicle. Funeral services announced for Ellis Scott Humbert.
