UT Dallas names Francis S. Johnson head of Center for Advanced Studies
UT Dallas Regents appoint Dr. Francis S. Johnson director of the Center for Advanced Studies and form UTD-CAS as the contracts and grants research arm. Johnson, who has served as acting president, will lead a major space physics program and teach physics, with Apollo lunar experiments already linked to his lunar atmosphere detector work.

Southwestern Bell announced a rate adjustment increasing long distance revenue by about 2 percent annually with a 7 million net gain after taxes.
