A deal closed Monday makes Mr T H Veenschoten the new owner of the Pool Hall Building beside the Dykstra Van der Maaten Implement shop. He purchased from Mr Merkley of Sioux City who had recently bought it from Albert Nasser. Veenschoten may operate a pool hall.
The Boyden Community Club met at Town Hall with six teen members. The Movie Committee chair traveled to Chandler Minnesota and reported the plan to fund community motion pictures. Members will sign pledge cards paying 25 cents weekly for six months or $1 monthly in advance, entitling the family to weekly movies at the Town Hall this fall and winter with outdoor shows planned next summer.
A roundup of judgments in Sioux County cases includes default judgments for Joe Meent vs Jim Noteboom $696 on a March 1 1923 promissory note, $78.60 against Henry Puck, and $247.33 by Ledener Strauss Co. against Mary Nittgen. A partition decree orders sale of the Hospers property and proceeds divided. The Grand Jury commends jail conditions at Sioux Center Chatsworth and Ireton.
J C Landhuis who ran the Boyden Barber Shop for four and a half years sold it together with his home on Monday to G P Koolman of Edgerton Minnesota. The new proprietor will take possession about January 1 1924. Landhuis plans to stay in Boyden until at least spring to help the new owner.
A quiet wedding was held Thursday August 16 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Blessing for Miss Irma Hirt and Mr. Hans Obermann. Rev. J Wilbert Lillico officiated. The couple, both natives of Boyden Iowa, will live in Wadena Minnesota where Obermann has a position at Enghs Bakery. A wedding dinner honored the relatives on Sunday.
A local advertisement from Home Bakery in Boyden Iowa promotes a wrappers bounty offering ten wrappers for ten cents trade. Readers are urged to have their mothers save wrappers for collection.
Empire Loan and Trust Co. recovered 2355.56 plus foreclosure on a secured note. First Nat Bank of Hawarden won 9777.99 with foreclosure on a secured mortgage to Anton Weidenfeller et al.
