Glass Piece Embedded in Hand After Decade and a Half

Gerrit Vander Houst, now in California, sent a letter to Mr and Mrs Symon Timmers with a tiny glass fragment 3 16 inch in diameter. The shard injured his hand during a visit at Marinus Moow’s home, required treatment by Doctor Bey at Orange City hospital, healed but lingering pain. About fifteen years later a fragment embedded in his left hand bone, was extracted in a Los Angeles operation last month.

William H. Wilken, a Boyden native who left around 1922 for New York City and later worked at H. Wolff Book Mfg. Co., stayed at the Jackson Hotel Friday through Wednesday.
