Governor acts on Verne Schoeneman pension plea
Hammill reviewed an application for a pension sentence for Verne Schoeneman, the Sioux county farmer who shot and killed farm hand Charles Van Meeeren, believing him to be Louis Clark who had threatened his life. Schoeneman, earlier found guilty of assault, received a one year term. he was represented by his attorneys Des Moines Register and Mrs W Harris of West Bend and Mr and Mrs H C Bargman of Rodman.

Barn Struck by Lightning at Dean Farm Near Boyden
The Herbert Dean farm barn, one mile south of Boyden, was struck by lightning Monday morning and burned completely. No livestock died, but hay, oats and harness were lost. The old barn planned for replacement this fall.
