The Sheridan Township Homemakers group gathers December 6 at 1 30 PM at Mrs Landhuis home. A Shellcraft lesson by Mrs Warn tjes and Mrs Winter follows with tweezers requested. Hostesses are Mrs Landhuis and Mrs Meyn. Christmas meeting includes Bible verse or hymn roll call and baked goods for gift exchange. Also note Sioux County Christmas Party December 3 at 1 30 PM in Sioux Center with decorations and a one pound homemade candy gift exchange.

The American Legion Auxiliary asks for Butternut key strips to fund Christmas toys for over 20 000 homeless children in 23 0 orphanages and homes across several states. Mrs Larry Salmon leads the drive with December 15 deadlines, urging prompt strip submission and home drop offs.
Mr. Henry Van Houte has returned home after surgery on November 15 at Lutheran Hospital and is recovering well. Bert Wallinga remains in serious condition at St. Josephs Hospital, Sioux City. Carla Doorienbos is a patient at St. Josephs with improving status and possible home return soon. Mrs. M. T. Slykhuis, formerly of Boyden, was hospitalized in Corsica, South Dakota, for several days but returned home this weekend much improved.
Miss Marlys Broesder was honored Thursday evening at a miscellaneous shower hosted by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Broesder. The event featured games and a two course luncheon prepared by hostesses Mrs. Wm. Klaassen and Arlys.
The Birthday Club met Wednesday afternoon at Mrs Bert Engelsman home to honor Mrs Arnold Van Es. A social afternoon followed by a luncheon.
The American Legion and Auxiliary of Sioux County will meet at Rock Valley on Wednesday evening December 4. All Legionnaires and Auxiliary members are urged to attend this meeting.
The Iowa Association for Retarded Children and its affiliates launched their 1957 drive for funds. They seek support for diagnosis and treatment clinics, home visiting counselors, nursery classes, and research to aid mentally retarded children. Northwest Association for Retarded Children began its drive in six counties with 15 percent of funds to the state group and a share to the national foundation.
Mrs Dena Van Nyhuis hosted a Wednesday evening Wahoo Party at her home with guests Mr and Mrs Paul Vande Hoef Sr Mrs H M Scholten Mrs Marie Burggraaff Mr and Mrs Ray Brockhouse and Mrs Minnie Mouw in attendance.
Mrs Joe C Kleinhesselink hosted a Friday social in honor of her husband and son Charles born today. The event included a two course luncheon with guests Mr and Mrs Hofmeyer of Hospers Mr and Mrs G Schneider and family of Orange City Mr and Mrs Willis Hofmeyer and family Mr and Mrs Peter Van Kiley and family of Newkirk and Mr and Mrs Herbert Horn and Vera Mae.
Mrs Norman Bell hosted a Friday birthday party for Noreen with Bingo and a birthday dinner before attending a basketball game. Attendees included Candace Heusinkveld Linda Dethmers Joan Slykhuis Mary Jane Slothouber Barbara Jean Bernisse Marolyn Oldenkamp Donna Slykhuis Leanna Bell and Linda Heemskirk. Marlys Haspels could not attend.
Supt. and Mrs. Dale Moen welcomed a son Jeffrey Dale born Friday November 22 at Sheldon Hospital weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces with a brother Gregory. Hans Sorenson and wife Primghar welcomed Daniel Jay born last Tuesday weighing 8 pounds 6 ounces. Wayne Steuven and Cleon Van Diepen welcomed a daughter born Monday November 25 at Sheldon Hospital over 8 pounds with no name yet.

Cub Scout Den No. 1 met at Zimmermans Thursday afternoon Merwin Heitritter was absent The Cubs repeated the Promise and the Law of the Pack Each boy was assigned an achievement to complete by the next den meeting He will present the project at the pack meeting and explain how he completed it Due to Thanksgiving the next meeting will be Monday afternoon After the meeting the boys chose sides and bowled games
