Rural schools reopen Monday as households plan Thanksgiving closures. Local businesses announce reduced prices on handkerchiefs and apples while plans for a band, social events, and a Shadow social fundraiser unfold. Losses, sales, and farm updates pepper a broad town roster with notices on cattle, horses, and corn, plus public meetings and tax assessment notes.
The board set two days off for Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving days will be made up during Christmas break from December 24 to January 5. Supplementary reading books arrived for grade teachers and new classroom screens were installed in grammar and high school rooms. A small stove-area screen was added in the high school. A music chart purchased for primary and intermediate rooms will soon benefit pupils and ease teacher workloads. The largest class is the high school rhetoric class, with over twenty students, practicing preliminary composition and English usage. Weekly teachers meetings foster unity and school improvement. A new course of study is nearing completion up to eighth grade, to be followed as feasible, with full implementation expected in two years.
