Petitions circulates in adjacent townships to seek an election on building a consolidated school at Newkirk. County superintendent sets November 10 for the hearing of objections. Luymes Gets Car Back After Local Theft
After his Overland disappeared last Wednesday evening Luymes reported the loss to Marshal Pryde. A car was found abandoned in Sheldon with the thief captured by local police. The suspect, a Minnesota native and ex soldier, later pleaded guilty in Orange City while Luymes recovered his vehicle.
Lost familiar grip of Sioux Center attorney found in Orange City
Consternation filled Orange City county attorney’s office when the trusted grip carrying court papers to and from Sioux Center vanished. A caller reported the bag near Sioux Center, identified as Anthony TePaske’s grip, and the finder alerted Orange City officials. The grip has long served TePaske and Mrs. TePaske, a familiar fixture at the red stone courthouse.

A long standing rule forbidding cities from buying from council members was tested in Hartley. A lumberman on the council sold materials to the town. suits followed but a Primghar judge ruled city must pay the bill with interest and costs since price was regular. The supreme court upheld the liability.

Painter Warthen Chooses Boyden For Studio and Home
Ray Warthen of Hospe rs decides to locate permanently in Boyden. He rents the former Heemstra hardware store from John Rensink and will remodel for his paint and wallpaper business. Warthen also rents the old Henry Kortekamp house, bought by E G Mahoney and moved to town, with possession around March 1 1920.
