Liquid Air And Its Tricks By Charles E Tripler

Chemist Charles E Tripler of New York perfected a method to liquefy air and produce peculiar results at low cost. He claims ten to fifteen gallons from half a ton of coal and stores it openly. Liquid air appears waterlike through glass, with pale blue oxygen tint. Nitrogen evaporates first, leaving almost pure liquid oxygen. Uses include refrigeration, and possibly engines, while it can explode like gun cotton and be used in cautery. Experiments show rapid pressure from vaporized liquid, freezing mercury into blocks and testing metal brittleness and hardness of materials at ultra low temperatures.
