The May 8 banquet transformed the high school gym into a Western backdrop with a wagon, buffalo head, waterfall, and blue sky. Pupils served a themed menu as sophomores in cowgirl and cowbert roles presented acts and crowned King Harold De Boer and Queen Dorothy Dokter in a festive finale.

Students left at 8 A M for a day trip visiting Sioux Falls sites including John Morrell Packing Plant KELO radio and TV studio Fenns Ice Cream Plant Old Home Bakery and South Dakota State School for the Deaf They toured facilities saw operations and completed a group supper and movie Call Me Madam before returning home Several local residents noted health and family updates including Mrs Moret Mrs Hurst Larry Vande Hoef with mumps and hospital news from Sheldon and Sioux City
Ladies Aid of the United Presbyterian church holds a guest day honoring all mothers on Thursday afternoon in the church basement. Members are asked to bring no guest. Roll call word is Mother. Mrs. Jake Van Diepen leads devotions and Mrs. Chris Reimers oversees the program. Hostesses are Mrs. John Klein, Mrs. Andy Bruns, and Mrs. Henry Van Houte.
Don Van Diepen entertained a group of boys at the Sheldon roller rink on Saturday afternoon. Those present included Harm and Oldenkamp.
A social gathering at Hills Park in Sheldon enjoyed by all. Guests recount a fine time with refreshments and gifts given to Don as a highlight of the evening.
