Over The Top for Boyden Red Cross Sale

The Boyden Red Cross sale on Saturday March 30 will go over the top thanks to daily donations. It starts at 11:00 A M instead of 2:00 P M and lunch will be served by Red Cross ladies. Auctioneers C Van Zyl and J A Stutzman urge everyone to attend and support the event.

Free Thrift Stamps Offer For New Reporter's Subscribers

The Reporter offers two Thrift Stamps free for every new subscriber at 1.25, with payment due with the order. The campaign promotes War Savings Stamps during wartime and urges solicitation of new readers, noting the offer applies to new subscriptions only. Sample copies available at the office and stamps sold at banks or the Post Office.

Pryde Enlists in Marines After Exam in Omaha

J. Morris Pryde son of Mr and Mrs J C Pryde enlisted in the Marines recently and received a Saturday call to Omaha for examination. He departed at once and has since been told he was accepted and sent to St Louis. If he passes there he will join training at North Carolina and may serve on Merchant Marine after twenty one days of training.

Town Election Held Monday with Spoiled Ballots

At the regular town election held Monday in the town hall sixty six ballots were cast of which fifteen were spoiled. The elected officials include Mayor W H Eddy with 29 votes Treasurer Paul T McCrum 25 votes Assessor H Maris 18 votes Councilmen Ed Dickevers 42 votes H Bergman 28 votes E G Mahoney 35 votes John H Dykstra 35 votes Frank J Conner 33 votes Many other candidates received one to eight votes each Paul T McCrum also had 19 votes for Mayor with caucus nominees unopposed and little interest shown.

Home Talent Play Draws Full House in Farmers Club

The Farmers Club annual home talent play The American Flag drew the largest crowd yet, with many turned away. The show was praised as entertaining and well presented, and a repeat performance as a Red Cross benefit attracted another large audience. For each new subscriber, two thrift stamps were offered.
