Boyden Public School Reports Rationing Registrations

The Boyden Public School notes 1316 people issued Ration Book II and 366 family declarations filed. Many volunteers aided registration, with special thanks to local staff and the Boyden Reporter. Prefinal spelling contests shift to March with five towns hosting preliminaries, culminating in Orange City on March 27 for the county final. Defense stamps plus bonds total 1927.85, freshmen lead weekly and total totals.

Immunization Schedule For Diphtheria And Smallpox

Sioux County health nurse Evelyn Faber outlines second diphtheria toxoid doses for children who had February clinics. School-based centers in Matlock Newkirk Boyden set for March 15 17 19 with certificates of immunity issued after each child’s vaccination record is reviewed. If the first dose failed a second dose is provided free of charge.

Farm Machinery Rationing and Purchase Certificates

All applications for corn plan ters and cultivators must reach the machinery rationing board by April 1 1943. Each county receives a quota of implements and can issue certificates only up to that limit. Dealers have not all received shipments, so many Certificates of Purchase are not yet fulfilled. If you can repair machinery or repurpose used gear, advertise or consult local dealers as quotas may be tight. Local shops are turning used horse drawn gear into tractor discs and cultivators.

Town Council Holds Regular Meeting March 1 1943

The town council met in regular session with Mayor McCrum presiding and full attendance. Bills were approved in light funds and water works plus general expenses. Beer license set at 1060 and Robert Moret beer permit renewed. Wm Oldenkamp hired as general utility man and appointed marshal.

The New School Code House File No 300

Anthony Te Paske urges reading the new School Code House File No 300 a 487 page bill that largely reprints old provisions with changes urging town and rural school officers and residents to study it and submit suggestions before March legislative recess for the education of children.

Grace Burns to Lead Butterfat Testing at Local Creamery

Mrs Grace Burns of Sibley will be the new butterfat tester at the local creamery. She has worked as tester at the Sibley creamery since 1988. She moves to the Rohde residence near the John Rohde home with her two daughters, ages fourteen and sixteen. The Reporter welcomes the family to the Boyden community.
