Due to limited meat supply every person or firm slaughtering cattle hogs and sheep must apply or renew with the county meat board by July 15 1948. Evidence from records or sales slips will be required. No slaughtering after that date without a new permit except on a farm for family use.

Lt Henry De Jong of Ft Jackson SC arrived Monday for a short stay. Corp Art Reimers arrived Monday from Camp Davis NC for a short leave. John Lee Rensink Jr visited several days last week in Rock Valley.

The 22nd annual 4-H Dairy Exposition will be held at the Dairy Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo with tentative dates Sept 3 6. Wm T Diamond field Secretary of the Iowa Dairy Association announces. The event under the Dairy Cattle Congress and sponsored by the Iowa State Dairy Association will climax this year s 4 H Dairy Club program. Near normal participation is expected in show ring classes and events. The annual 4 H judging demonstration and production contests will be held along with a state high school dairy judging contest. The Dairy Cattle Congress proper has been cancelled though a sizable show is planned including hippodrome saddle horse show victory garden educational exhibits and other events.
Esther Louise Landhuis daughter of Mr and Mrs Leonard Landhuis of Glendale wed Jacobus De Boer of Monrovia in a July 5 ceremony at their home. Rev J J Weersing officiated under a white arch with Ruth Landhuis as brides maid. The couple plans a short honeymoon and will reside near San Diego where De Boer is employed.
Ann Margaret De Vries daughter of Peter and Mrs De Vries and Gerald Val son of Price Miller united in marriage at Bethany Missouri on a Saturday ceremony. Groom stationed in Boise Idaho where they will establish a home. Ann Margaret a Boyden High School Class of 1942 graduate and has assisted in Fernald store.
Mrs Arie Roggen and her son are visiting this week to spend time with Minnesota relatives.
Tommy Starkweather makes a social call to the Madden residence in Sioux City, visiting as a guest of local acquaintance.
Mr and Mrs Nic Rouwenhorst hosted a Wednesday dinner honoring Mrs Peter De Vries. The social event gathered local friends and reflected formal hospitality.
Mrs. Jacob Van Diepen Jr entertained at a one o'clock luncheon at her home on Wednesday honoring Mrs. Peter DeVries. The table for six featured garden flowers as the centerpiece and a three course luncheon was served to Mesdames Meyn Schortinghuis Fred Starkweather Jr. and Willis Vanderburg.
