A Treasury Department appeal links Civil Liberties in Europe to the Say Yes campaign. The appeal urges Americans to fill war stamp albums to fund weapons for soldiers, praising Morgenthau’s effort and the home front duty. It stresses rights, religious freedom, and economic liberty against totalitarian regimes.
The 1948 farm program emphasizes adapting production to war needs. Farmers should maintain or increase pasture and hay for dairy, beef, and pork. boost pork and poultry. and, where feasible, raise flax and soybeans. Soybean meal is now available in carload lots for farmers in Sioux County at about 49 dollars per ton including 2 dollars per ton handling, order through the AAA office in Orange City Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Miller and daughter Harriett and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Van Diepen Jr. with children visited Mrs. Geo. Gilder meister and her new son George Junior at Hull hospital on Saturday. Mrs. Gilder meister was formerly Dorothy Beldt.
Art Stueven and his sisters visited Sunday afternoon at the Gustav Schol home, sharing a casual afternoon gathering. The siblings spent time with the host and enjoyed a light refreshments.

Luella Winter aged eleven was operated on for appendicitis at Sibley Hospital on Tuesday and is reported to be recovering as well as can be expected.
Pfc. Fred Schwartz of Victory Ville California and Miss Luella Schwartz of Laverne Minnesota visited their sister and brother in law Mr and Mrs Gervit Teeselink in Las. The brief notes a family gathering and regional ties during wartime era.
Jacob Brouwer visited The Reporter to report a successful sale and gratitude for the sale bill and advertising services. He credited the Reporter’s efforts with attracting a large crowd and deemed both factors highly instrumental to the sale’s success.
Miss Eunice Scholten of Holland Michigan and Rev Oscar Jelsma of Mt Marion New York announce their engagement. Miss Scholten a Hope College graduate taught at Harrington and Froebel schools in Michigan. Rev Jelsma a Calvin College graduate with a BD degree served as pastor at Plattekill and Highwood Reformed churches in Mt Marion New York.
The Boyden rabbit hunt last Friday brought in 180 jack rabbits and one red fox. About fifty farmers hunted across five sections five miles north of Boyden using shotguns only. Ninety two of the rabbits were counted in a single section and money from sales supports the county conservation league. The rabbits’ hides and fur will aid felt hat production. another hunt is planned for February 5 near Boyden.
Clinton physician Dr. Arthur M. Maris arrived Wednesday for a four day furlough at the parental H. Maris home.
Jake VanBatavia and Johanna VanBatavia of Hull were seen spending Saturday evening together in a local Hull venue, described as a casual public gathering. The couple appeared relaxed as attendees noted their presence in the crowd.
