The regular school election will be held March 9 to select two directors. Incumbents Gerhard Scholten and Henry Van Houte will not seek re election after long terms of about 18 years. Nominations must be filed ten days before the election to appear on the ballots.
Mr and Mrs Henry Moss and children of Hull and Mr and Mrs Thomas De Groot and children honored their father Dick De Groot Friday evening at his home on his birthday. A social evening was spent after which Mrs Dick De Groot served a fine birthday luncheon.
Mrs. Josie Kuyper hosted a Thursday birthday gathering for Joel Kuyper and Deloris Gordon. Guests included Mrs. Lucy Kuyper and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm Humme and Kathryn, and Mrs. Harold Kuyper. A fine birthday luncheon followed the entertainment.
SICK Mr. A. J. Bos fell on the ice this past week and is now in the Sheldon hospital with internal injuries. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Van Diepen received a phone call from Arthur E. Miller at Rochester stating Arthur underwent surgery at St. Mary's hospital Saturday morning and was as could be expected at this time.
Mrs Theo Kats of Prairie View Kansas stayed from Thursday to Monday afternoon at the Paul M Vande Hoef farm home, staying as a guest for several days.
A February 14 ceremony at the Westra home united Bentha Westra and Daryl Dammann in a double ring service officiated by Rev. Howard Tuesink. The event featured red and white decor, a two course lunch reception, and a wedding trip before the groom enters the armed forces.
Mr and Mrs Frank Schafer entertained Sunday at their Sheldon home for their 48th wedding anniversary. Guests included Mr and Mrs Roy Schafer and family, Mr and Mrs Albert Van Roekel and family, Mr and Mrs Ted Doorenbos and family, Mr and Mrs Herman Rollifs and family, and Mr and Mrs Lawrence Doorenbos and family.
Mrs Harold Moret enjoyed a handkerchief shower Saturday afternoon at the Henry L Moret residence. Guests included Mesdames Abe H Van Roekel John Hilton Jake Van Diepen Eva King Wm Odenkamp Henry Auberg Jr and Ed Baartman. A luncheon followed served by Mrs Moret and her daughter Marilyn.
Local residents hosted and visited in multiple households across Sheldon Sioux City and Le Mars including Scholten Engelsman Vander Hoef Jacobsma De Forest Van Velzen Vander Maten Ver Meer and Van Gorp families. Hospital returnees noted.
Funeral services for Harry Scholten 72 lifetime Sioux County resident who died February 3 1953 were conducted Friday with Rev Van Deelen at the Christian Reformed church in Hull. Interment in Nassau township cemetery Alton. Born May 25 1880 on a farm east of Alton he married Aartie C Mouw August 4 1905 and they had 12 children 11 survives with 27 grandchildren. Pallbearers were nephews Maurice T Scholten Morris L Scholten Maurice J Mouw Gerrit John Leusink John J Scholten and John G Scholten.
Numerous Hull Sheldon and area residents hosted guests over the weekend. Families including the Bells Korthals Vander Haar Donkersloot Rol Humme Prins and Diekevers welcomed visitors from Olivia George Perkins Rock Valley Kimber Idaho and Sibley.

Peter Moret of Brattleboro Iowa sold a registered Holstein-Friesian bull to Steuber Brothers of Fairmont Minnesota. A change of ownership for Moret Ormsby Bess Royal is recorded by the Holstein-Friesian Association of America. The association issued 9 037 registry and transfer certificates to Iowa breeders in 1952.
