Rev. P. E. A. Schreeder and Miss Dena Ribberink of Atwood Central Lake Michigan arrived for a visit with William Van Giessen. Schreeder will fulfill classical appointments in Iowa and occupy the pulpit at the Reformed Church in Hospers next Sunday.
The Luther League of the Lutheran Church north of Boyden hosted a musical program for the ch parochial school last Tuesday with a Basket Social. Receipts totaled 80.40. Friday the program was repeated for Lutheran Congregation members at the same building. A silver collection of about 30.00 boosted the League treasury.
On February 13 John J. Wiersma will hold a sale on his farm three miles west of Boyden. The family plans relocation to Hull to occupy the Ben De Jong house and John will run a grocery business and lunch counter there.
At a Town Council meeting Mr L Schaap was named to fill the mayoral vacancy after Will H Eddy resigned. The council set March 5 for the next meeting and approved electric light service at two main street corners after midnight until daybreak, a measure pushed by the Boyden Community Club.
E P Oehmke of Larchwood Lyon County Iowa announces a public sale on Tuesday March 6 1923 at 1 PM. The auction features 50 head of Spotted Poland China bred sows and gifts. Write for catalogue.
Sioux County men Lavery Dingeman Brooks Olson faced forty year burglary terms and Drury life in hospital. all received thirty year sentences for the attempted murder of the sheriff and deputies at Maurice bank. The case recounts stolen car sightings, bank raid planning, and December/January pursuit leading to arrests and pleas.
A meeting of the Sale committee at Farmers Lumber yard completed plans for the Second Annual Community Sale set for Saturday February 24 1923 starting at 10 00 AM on the railroad ground near Farmers Elevator and stock yards. Articles must be listed by February 15 at Farmers Savings Bank Boyden Bank Farmers Elevator or with Henry Schloetje Arie Verdoorn. Meylink Wiersma of Hull are to cry the sale with Paul T McCrum and Steve G Vanden Brink as clerks.
