Orange City basketball wins and class plans noted
Mr Hoeven spent Friday and Saturday in Orange City for examinations. Friday night Orange City teams hosted Doon and Boyden with Orange City girls winning 11 to 6 and Boyden boys edging Doon 22 to 20. Freshman Janet Scholten leaves for Sioux Center and the Senior class plans a play in early March. Doon and Boyden basketball games will be played at Doon not Boyden.

A. E. Franken of Sioux Center topped the Sioux City fat cattle market January 27th with a $12.00 per hundredweight high for nine steers averaging 884 pounds. Six Hereford heifers averaging 806 pounds sold at $1.00 per hundredweight. Franken’s hog load of Poland China hogs brought $10.55 per cwt.

Fire broke out at the John Wiersma building housing the Artsen Harness and Shoe Shop near noon last Thursday. Flames were confined to that building thanks to the new fire engine and a well organized department, avoiding wider damage to the business district.

Reception for new church members by United Presbyterian Social Committee
The Social Committee of United Presbyterian Church hosted a reception for new members in the basement parlors on Monday evening. A program of short talks and musical numbers drew a good crowd and refreshments were served. The Sacred Lecture third talk will be at the Reformed Church next Tuesday evening February 10.
