The J B Davis family moved their household to Herrick South Dakota to farm. They traveled in a Ford and Mr Davis, long a harness and shoe repairman, left indoor work for farming. Farmers Savings Bank holds the harness shop as mortgage security with uncertain disposition of the property.
The Ver Doorn family moves to Hollandale Minnesota and will sell farm implements and related items at public auction on Friday December 21. Mr and Mrs James Grooters of Preston Minnesota are visiting relatives in the area.
On December 4 at 8 p m the Monster Post American Legion held its annual officer election at Farmers Savings Bank. Jake Van Diepen was elected Commander Henry Veenschoten Vice Commander Albert Gnooters Adjutant S G Vanden Brink Finance Officer and T H Veenschoten Sergeant at Arms.
Rev F M Bunge of George has accepted a pastorate in Chanoa Illinois and he and his family left Tuesday by auto. He has been a popular Lutheran minister in George and will be missed there.
Duggans sue for refund on inheritance tax. Gertrude Dekker seeks divorce and custody after alleged cruelty. Other suits include landlord liens and note foreclosures. Bar meeting notes urge voter back to people. Red Cross chapter reports 700 members with goals for 1,000. Game results from Boyden and Hull teams cited.
A social gathering at the Town Hall on December 31 features music and games arranged by the Women’s Citizenship Club as hostesses. Light refreshments will be served and all are welcome to enjoy and see the old year out and the new year in.
Local Holstein breeder George Van de Gaande of Perkins has reserved Malacrest as a prefix to the standard name and number for registered Holsteins, as announced by the Holstein Friesian Association of America. Since then over 5,000 breeders have adopted trade mark prefixes to identify farm origin in registered animals.
The Women s Citizenship Club announces a community Christmas Tree to be lit several evenings during the Christmas season. Decorations are being arranged and contributions are welcome, with contact to Ruthye Jackson Nellie Veenschoten Emma Stutzman and Bertha Landhuis.
A wedding occurred at the Grooters home three miles northwest of Boyden on December 5 1923 at 11:00 am. Anna E Grooters married Albert Kooy with Rev Lumkes conducting the double ring ceremony. Attendants included Marvella Grooters and Mildred Grooters. About seventy guests dined, with many out of town relatives in attendance. The couple will reside in Boyden where the groom works at the People's Store.
The Ladies Aid Society of St. John's Lutheran church thanks all who helped and donated at last Saturday's sale. They also appreciate the use of Town Hall for the event.
