Sioux County Farm Bureau 15th Annual Meeting

The Sioux County Farm Bureau will hold its 15th annual meeting in the Orange City courthouse next Monday December 15 at 10 30 a m. The organization links extension work of the U S department of agriculture and Iowa State College to county farmers and numbers nearly a third of a million families in its membership.

Jennie Drenth married Ernest Kammlade in a double ring ceremony at the bride’s parents home with Rev. J. W. Brink officiating. Esther Blazgar sang and Miss Clyde performed with Miss Blazgar on piano as the couple received 41 guests. They will live on the Kammlade farm near Boyden.

K. T. Hartsuiker of Boyden Bakery plans a new bakery route to sell Boyden baked goods including Royal rusk. He has bought a Willys truck with Firestone balloon tires and will sell candies once equipment arrives. He has prior experience in large scale candy production and wholesale contracts.

Calves Missing From Albert Dethmers Farm

Six calves wandered from Albert Dethmers farm onto his neighbor’s land. Farm manager John Casmere notified neighbors and advertised the loss without success. After a month of feeding the calves, five were stolen one Sunday and the last calf disappeared in the night. Local readers urged to help identify the culprits.

County Shed and Machinery Moved to Boyden Vicinity

The Sioux county machine shed near Hull has been relocated to Boyden and now stores highway equipment. Report notes intense local ire over the move, with prior disputes between the Board of Supervisors and Hull residents. Maintainers Gorze man and Vanden Brink, both from Boyden, have been busy improving roads.

Mrs. A. E. Miller Harriet Miller and Miss Lorraine McCrum were in Sioux City last Saturday. Miss Ora King joined them for a weekend visit before resuming her studies at Huron South Dakota. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Vanden Brink and their son spent Sunday afternoon in Rock Rapids.

The 15th annual Sioux County Farm Bureau meeting will convene at the Orange City courthouse next Monday December 15 with 10:30 AM reports from officers and committees. A noon covered dish lunch, 1:15 PM program with Mrs. Wm Petrich and Wm Rounds, and a “Ponce Court Case” feature will follow. Elections and resolutions close the program.

Especially Good Christmas Program At Boyden High

An all school Christmas program sponsored by the Parent Teachers Association entertained Wednesday night in the Boyden high school auditorium. It included Christmas and children's books, carols, a Mother Goose revue, a puppet show by Primary, and a Dicken's Carol dramatization by seventh and eighth grades.
