The Women’s Club sponsors the Community Christmas Program inviting all local organizations to participate. Submit your performance numbers to Mrs Pollock Mrs A E Miller or Geo Reimers by Monday December 18. Mrs Geo Reimers is the chairman.
The Woman's Club holds a Friday afternoon gathering at the hotel. Hostesses Misses Ruthye and Maud Jackson prepare the event. Guest speaker is Mrs. Jake Van Leeuwen from Rock Rapids.
The U P Ladies Aid met Thursday to finalize plans for the annual bazaar and chicken pie supper scheduled for next Thursday afternoon.
Mrs Elmer Lack hosted the Bridge Club Wednesday afternoon. Mrs John Stergeman and daughter Christina visited Mrs Martha Rosenboom last Friday. August Ossenfert of Sheldon was a business caller in Boyden Monday morning.

The second meeting of the Swax County Safety Council was held in Orange City Tuesday evening. A speaker outlined the group and slides showcased safety work. A local organization will be formed with a member from each existing group The Commercial Club American Legion and Auxillary The PTA Women’s Club and High School Faculty. The aim is to promote safe driving highway safety home safety and cooperation with traffic officers.
Mr and Mrs G P Kooiman and Mr and Mrs Allan Youngsmu and daughter Dawn of Rock Valley visited Edgerton on Thursday to spend time with relatives.

Delores Rouwenhorst has been ill for a week with a severe cold. She is resting at home and awaiting recovery.

County schools stage a Junior High One-Act Play Festival with Boyden Hull and Rock Valley. First performance at Boyden Monday December 13 features "By Special Request" directed by Mrs Roggen with actors Hsther Landhluis Maxine Fuhr Ann DeVries Henry Heus ingveldt and Henry Auberg.
A weekly wrap from the senior classes highlighting Biology topics Nutrition of Animals Circulation Hormones Respiration and Muscular Activity Removal of Wastes and Buying and selling. The six weeks exam was last Friday and the Unit test Wednesday.
Lydia Dykstra reports Latin I translated the Fable of the Rotten Apples about Carolus and bad friends. The week covers world list review, a test on The Spy, study of The Nation Tested, gerunds and participles, passive and active voice, and a history essay on the Causes of the American Revolution with a test on the American Revolution.
The Butterflies made pictures of creamery sights and read new books. Norman and Harold wrote numbers and story problem answers neatly. Lois Paul-Son cleaned the doll house, Jimmy brought a paper turtle, and Thanksgiving stories and poems are being shared.
Third grade presented Brother Fox Tar Baby on Tuesday. Fourth grade closed Eskimos unit in Geography and will perform The First Thanksgiving Day for the high school on Wednesday afternoon. Spelling honors went to Lois, Clarence, Myrna Mae, Lavon P., Gerald, LaVonne R., Lynn, Edna, Bobby, Carl, Becty, Delores with perfect scores Friday.
Sick list notes Moret absent Friday Monday Tuesday. Dethmers teaches while Pealen is ill. Sixth graders finish Iowa History. fifth graders study Helen Keller and support for the blind. Lack brings new storybooks. A and 100 percent lists named for weekly readers and spelling achievements.
This week seventh and eighth graders take six weeks tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mr Lack adds Hans Brinker and Heidi to the library. Seventh grade boys will dramatize a King Arthur story in reading class. Eighth graders all scored 100 percent in spelling except Louis. seven grade spellers include Lucy Maxine Caroline Dorothy Jake Harriet Esther Marvin Vernon Kenneth Orville and Gaylord.

The Boyden school reports a noon Ping-Pong set purchase for dinner-hour pupils and a ten minute pep meeting led by Vera Dethmers and Dorothy Rensink. The student council met, devotions were led by Dorothy DeValois, and Adrian Dickevers was elected captain of the first team. Boyden beat Hall 31 to 25 and Doon 88 to 7, with the second team testing Doon’s first unit. Upcoming games include Hesper and Sanborn. Thanksgiving break limited extra notes.

Manual Training builds a Ping Pong table for girls as preparations for exams continue.
Freshman girls prepare hot sandwiches and salads this week. Students review six weeks of work while Mr. Smith tests the manual training boys on all topics covered.
