Auto accident near George leaves man dead
Hugo Rudloff of George is killed and Gene Swalve seriously injured in a collision 44 miles north of George Tuesday night August 21. They were en route to a Little Rock dance when they struck a car driven by Dykhouse four and a half miles north of George. Rudloff, 17, died from a broken neck. coroners inquest pending. Also on the scene were Joe Barnes and Frances Sands, all of George.

Truck Driver Killed in Train Collision Near Sheldon
Henry Meenmenberg 32, a C. J. West Gravel Company driver from Sheldon, was killed when his truck struck Illinois Central train No. 716 at highway 19 crossing about 13 miles west of Sheldon. He left two children and his wife had died earlier. his brother also worked in the same crew.
