Bob Green narrowly escaped serious harm when his double-deck hog truck toppled after a tire blowout near Sioux Falls. The load of hogs spilled onto the pavement with three killed and three injured. 34 remaining hogs were rounded up.
On August 25 tickets for the Clay County Fair went on sale and $6,000 worth were sold. The Clay County Fair Association in Spencer Iowa urges direct orders for day and performance choices. Grandstand seats cost one dollar and box seats one dollar and a half.
Hull defeats Boyden 10 to 3 as Vander Minten fans 18, Bonestrop homers, and Stykhuis throws two runners at home. Hull with Gunnink on the mound allows 8 hits while Boyden tallies three runs. Upcoming games show Boyden Juniors vs Sanborn and Granville doubleheader scheduled for late August/early September.
Traffic violators in Hull were fined five dollars and costs in a Monday night court session. Offenses included U turns left turns and speeding. Douma in the Department of Publication and Sales of the Reformed Church in Grand Rapids Michigan. Mrs. Van Kerkhof has a half day teaching position at Hudsonville Christian School and a house offer accompanies the package.
