Boyden Businessman A. Vanden Brink Sr Dies at 61

A. Vanden Brink Sr longtime Boyden business leader and booster died at his West Railroad home after eight months of cancer. He would have turned 65 on January 1 1926. Survived by wife three sons Steve Arthur Ray of Boyden and daughter Dora of Hull two brothers and four sisters. Funeral set for Saturday at 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. An obituary will appear in the next issue.

Local Co operatives Win First Prize at Sioux County Fair

Local co operatives secured First Prize for their business booth at the Sioux County Fair, with Marble Works of Sheldon taking Second. The display, arranged by Carl Hirt of the Creamery and Van Giessen, features neatly finished wall board and white paint showcasing products from three concerns including HOR SAVE Alfalfa hay.

Boyden Public School Opens After Summer Break

The Boyden Public School will open Monday September 6 after a three month summer closure. The fall term plans are complete and the building is ready for nine months of classes. Peculiar Accident Injures Hull Worker in Sioux County

L. C. Van Batavia of Hull, operating a caterpillar truck for John Gorzeman's Sioux county grading crew, broke his right leg in a strange mishap after washing a car by the river. He was taken to Hull Hospital for treatment as the crew worked northeast of Hawarden. Also noted: Rev Archibald Stewart returned home before moving to Culver City for his first pastorate, and Misses Maud Jackson Berth Heitritter and Dorothy Dunnin attended a Young People's Convention in Garner, Iowa.

Edgar De Valois Killed In Runaway Accident

The community mourns the instant death of Edgar De Valois after his team spooked a wagon at ten this morning. He was traveling from the Farmers Elevator with feed when he fell and the wheels passed over him. He leaves a wife and two small children, plus his father C De Valois of Boyden, and siblings. Funeral plans will be announced.

Central College Students Hold Reunion in Rock Rapids Park

Central College students from northwest Iowa and Edgerton Minnesota met in Rock Rapids Park for a picnic. About seventy five Centralites attended including graduates current students and fall term prospects. Plans were made to make the reunion an annual event.

Marriage Announcement for Arthur Kooiman and Iva Mae Snyder

Mr Arthur Kooiman son of Mrs Jennie Kooiman of Chandler Minnesota and Miss Iva Mae Snyder daughter of Mr and Mrs Bert Snyder of Matikato Minnesota announce their wedding. The ceremony occurred Friday August 20. They will reside in Chandler after September 10. The groom formerly lived in the community and worked at the State Bank of Chandler where his brother William is assistant cashier. Congratulations are extended.

Grant Township wins booth prize at Sioux County Fair

The Grant Township Farm Bureau and Auxiliary took first prize for their booth at the Sioux County Fair. Capel township won second, Plato third. The winning display featured a miniature farm yard with complete buildings and live stock, fenced by a willow barrier. Sheridan and Capel booths also earned praise for neat ideas and hard work. The fair notes strong cooperation but lamented the absence of Holstein cattle and Boyden breeders in the livestock show.

Family Trip Heads to Pella Iowa for Relatives Visit

Verrips and son Marion and Mr and Mrs Jim Smit and their son left Tuesday for Pella Iowa to visit relatives and friends. Margaret Heemstra also left Tuesday for Pella to stay with Prof Jacob Heemstra.
