Patriotic meeting honors local men joining Camp Mike
A large crowd gathered at the town hall last Wednesday to honor the young men departing for Camp Mike. The Home Guard and volunteers marched in military style with Sheridan Township band playing as autos lined main street. Speakers included Rev. Van Lummel Rev. Van Houte Rev. Megdelsen and Dr. Poppen with music by Mrs Frye. The event ended with prayers and a blessing. A farewell service for Mr Will Vos who left Monday with the July draft followed at the Reformed church naming Rev A J Van Lummel John DeValois and Steve Van der Well as speakers.
