A large crowd gathered at the town hall last Wednesday to honor the young men departing for Camp Mike. The Home Guard and volunteers marched in military style with Sheridan Township band playing as autos lined main street. Speakers included Rev. Van Lummel Rev. Van Houte Rev. Megdelsen and Dr. Poppen with music by Mrs Frye. The event ended with prayers and a blessing. A farewell service for Mr Will Vos who left Monday with the July draft followed at the Reformed church naming Rev A J Van Lummel John DeValois and Steve Van der Well as speakers.
Gertrude Jansen returned to Boyden Saturday after two weeks vacation with relatives in Minnesota and other points. Mr and Mrs J C Pryde and daughter Ethel are spending a few weeks at Lake Okoboji.
County threshers and farmers meet at Orange City town hall on August 3 at 7 30 P M to discuss price fixing by threshers. Organized by the Food Administration and county Farm Bureau with George Dunlop as signer.
Railroads impose strict cash payments for all freight starting August 1 to end credit discrimination and abuse. Regular customers may obtain up to forty eight hours credit with a surety bond. Bonds may be cancelled for bond violations or failure to surrender bills of lading for C O D shipments. If bills are lost a deposit of eleven percent of the original invoice is accepted.
J A Stutzman left Tuesday evening for Havana North Dakota to remain for several weeks to assist at threshing on the Stutzman and Conner farm. Boone and Hardacre have a fine crop and are pleased with their new location.
