Spring plans for the Boyden Diamond Ball Team call for a turnout Monday at Town Hall. Members and other teams are urged to attend April 28 at 7:30 PM to pick a manager and address lighting and related needs.
A bridal shower for Miss Berendena Bosman of Sioux City was hosted at the Bosman home by her parents Mr and Mrs Henry Bosman. Fourteen 4 H Club girls plus leaders Mrs Linch and Mrs E Olson attended. Guests played games and enjoyed lunch after which Bea received a gift.
Mr and Mrs Gerhard Scholten Jr welcomed a 7 14 pound son named Dennis Gordon born Sunday April 13 at Good Samaritan Hospital Sheldon. Neighbor visits include Carl Haahr Cedar Falls and others as church services led by Rev Brass of Newkirk are announced for next Sunday.
Attention boys age 17 and under are invited to a meeting at Town Hall on Monday April 28 at 7 30 P M. The session will discuss rules regulations and team organization with the American Legion backing the effort. Herm Meester head coach Arnold Stegeman Andy Bruns and Tuff Grooters named as coaches and chair.
A note of thanks from Mrs. Gerrit Vanden Brink thanks friends for cards and deeds during her husband’s hospital stay. Sunday visitors included the Ingalls and Diekevers families from Sheldon and Flandreau. Hull hosts and Hills Minn. gatherings referenced. Ronnie Grooters marked his fifth birthday. Local families and business progress noted with Smit and Son extending a new meat market addition two stories high with an upstairs apartment.
Miss Peelen hosts a grove picnic for pupils two miles east of Boyden. Northwestern Junior College official invites seniors to Orange City for college. Junior-Senior Banquet secrecy heightens interest. School board accepts Brouwer’s resignation as superintendent, effective year end. Marjorie Olson is re-elected to teach second and third grade next year.
