Family visitors and a birth reported in small town notes

Mr and Mrs Will Witte and grand son Jammig and Mr and Mrs Verni McPeak and daughters visited the Edwit Patmec home in Webster City last Sunday. Mr and Mrs Will Blease and son Donald and Mrs A A Packard visited Des Moines over the weekend with telephones. Donald had his tonsils removed. A late Sunday call announced the arrival of a one and a half pound daughter at the home of Mr and Mrs Garl Swan son at Spirit Lake. Dr and Mrs A H Stafford and daughter Gloria, Mr and Mrs Wm Black and daughter Melva, and Edward Wankin attended a family reunion last Sunday at Town Falls.

Lightning Strikes Tree Close Call for Several

Storm morning event saw a cottonwood struck by lightning near a post office. Several people, including Fred Ragwheusen and Mr. Peters, were shocked, while others sustained minor injuries. Glass and electrical fixtures were damaged but no one was seriously hurt. Repairs began on Main Street after the incident.

Ladder slip injures worker with four cracked ribs

Wil Clausen fell from a ladder while rebuilding a shop section for H. Klazgie last Thursday morning. The impact left him winded, with four fractured ribs forcing a week of rest and no active work.

Wright County Pays Ten For Smelly Paws

Wright County dispersed ten dollars as bounty for 200 deadgraphers paws, 400 feet total, paid to Bill Be Long near Dows. After payment, the auditor's staff removed the paws, though they carried a strong odor intensified by high temperatures.

Arrest of Renwick man for drunkening crime

A Fort Dodge paper reports Robert Schnurr of Renwick was arrested last week on a charge of drunkenness. He was fined 100 or thirty days in jail, the sentence suspended on condition he stay away from Fort Dodge. He was found on the Sherman building stoop with a tong string and claimed he was fishing. Schnurr worked on the A B True blood farm northwest of Renwick. After a reported family quarrel large, officers were called. Schnurr left the area after the incident.

Dog Seeks Owner in Goldfield Main Street Plight

A white collie type dog wanders Goldfield's main street for three days in hopes of locating his master. The dog ignores food and follows no person home, awaiting his owner's return. Local dog lovers hope the missing owner will appear soon.
