Simnche Thiel returned from Gilman where she had been visiting her sister for several days. Guy Rier of Seattle Washington visited Tuesday with Miss Cecil Brown, Dick Hefty, and bred family members in Renwick during the past week.
Klassie Bloom and Henry Bloom left Saturday for harvest in North Watter. Hanson and Fritz Gagner began on the same trail earlier in the week. Mise Gladys Persons of New York City is visiting. A barrel fight on Main Street attracted a crowd with ten contestants, Albert Nelson winning first prize and G. Stringer second. Various locals and visitors attended picnics, weddings, and community events, including Evalyn Margaret Packard marrying Floyd J. Lane with Rev. R. B. Cook officiating. Numerous notes on visitors, travel, and small-town news fill the week’s Renwick Times.
The WSCS met at the Methodist Church with hostesses Mrs A D Gimner and Mrs Roy Gillespie. Mrs Ray Feltis led devotions and Mrs George Latch taught. Mrs P W Neal offered the day’s thought. A birthday gathering honored Mrs J L Fisher with tea and a small lunch. An anniversary open house celebrated Mr and Mrs Eddie L Bygness on their silver wedding anniversary with 100 guests and family from several towns attending. The Bygness decor featured white bells and pink yellow flowers, and guests signed the old wedding guest book. The first Hippen family reunion postwar drew many relatives from Iowa and Illinois to the Albert Hippen farm and nearby farms for a multi-state gathering.
Mrs John Zimmerman hosts Liberty Township relatives as August Helmke and Claus Helmke of Swea City visit Carroll Helmke and family Sunday. Elaine Flemmig sails to New Town to teach. Carroll Helmke and family share Sunday dinner with Hiram Midland in Eagle Grove. Flemmigs from Humboldt dine with Carl Flemmig and guests in town. Chicago guests R D Rossman join Carl Flemmig for dinner and later visit Algona and Seneca.
Dr and Mrs C A Hefty of California along with Mrs Rose Hefty and Clarence attended Tuesday evening dinner at Francis Krause’s. Chris Schneider arrived in San Diego from China Thursday. Walter Breen of Minneapolis Emil Eggerth and Esther of Galt Iowa visited Chris Schneider’s home. Lutheran Ladies Aid hosted a birthday party for Mrs Gugger. Albert Nelson hosted guests Sunday at Pete Nelson’s in Eagle Grove. Lewis Olson of Leland Wil and Stanley Parkhurst of Aurora visited Elias Carlson’s home last week.
Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Begness returned from a Black Hills Yellowstone trip via Billings Montana with Mrs. E. Bygness. They joined Mrs. Harold Bygness and Joyce of Goldfield visiting the Bygness home. State Fair attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Bilmian Skye, Mr. and Mrs. Don Lerdal, Miss Anna Kleve, and Mrs. Andy Strand.
Kyle Luchsinger received his discharge and returned home Wednesday with his wife. Miss Marianne Aust of Storm Lake, sister of Mrs. Ole Carlson, visited at the Carlson residence last week. Carla Stauffacher and Harriet Ruberg will be taken by their parents to Cedar Falls Sunday to enter college. Mr and Mrs Gerhard Nerem welcomed a seven pound daughter born Sunday September 1 at Lutheran Hospital Ft Dodge. Mother and baby are reported doing well.
