Harvey McPeak Post of the American Legion will host an oyster stew next Thursday November 7 at 7 00 PM in the Legion Hall. The event kicks off the post annual membership drive and members Ren wick and Hardy will lead. Members are asked to bring their own bowls and silverware.
Mrs Leo Mimbach was taken to Belmond Hospital Wednesday evening suffering from a severe flu. She will be confined there for several days.

Mr and Mrs Lee Lester welcomed a daughter named Rhonda Lee born October 15 weighing six pounds 15 ounces. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Gerald Nelson. Dr and Mrs D E Arne of Minneapolis welcomed a son Bruce Eugene born October 24 weighing seven pounds 14 and 34 ounces. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Gus Arne of Renwick and Mr and Mrs J W Straw of Akron Ohio.
With football finished the season shifts to basketball. Coach Ted Vande vier leads the boys in their opener against Franklin Consolidated of Latimer on Friday November 8. Coach Hooton returns with the girls this year.
Mrs R E McGowan of Renwick will chair religion and give the invocation at the lunch eon during the second annual Adult Education Conference at the State University of Iowa in Iowa City. The event November 4 and 5 covers topics from art to atomic energy, part of the university continuing education program, sponsored by the SUI Extension Division and the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs.
The Rebekah Lodge will hold a Homecoming meeting on November 7 at 2 30 P M in Amyet Hall. A Delegates State Assembly Report will be presented and all members are urged to attend.
The T 4 U Club met Friday with Mrs Kenneth Lester as hostess. Mrs Cledis Anderson led a lesson on Autumn Poems followed by a Q and A on Asian topics. Entertainment was by Mrs Miller Wergeland and traveling bingo was played.
August Huschka known farmer three miles north of Renwick lost three fingers when his hand was drawn into a corn picker. He was taken to Hancock County Memorial Hospital Britt. About 35 farmers and 10 pickers moved into the fields to finish the harvest.
The Renwick Baptist Missionary Society hosts a guest day on Friday November 8 at 2 00 P M in the church parlors. Humboldt and Goldfield Mission Societies will attend with Mrs Durbin of Gilmore City as guest speaker. Each local member may bring a guest and all members are urged to attend this important meeting.
Ramon R Harris of Renwick has completed a two year home study Diesel tractor and heavy equipment course from Interstate Training Service of Portland Oregon. The program covers diesel operation repair and service with 50 training manuals and specialty areas in truck tractor and heavy equipment maintenance.
Word reached here that Mrs Frank Shank Sr mother in law of Mrs Frank Shank passed away October 14 in St Paul. She had visited the Jacob Blesie home in Renwick several times while the Bles family resided here.
Volunteer workers nailed 970 acoustical tiles on the social room ceiling last Tuesday and Wednesday at the EUB church, yielding a very satisfactory echo reduction. Mrs Roy Biesemeyer hosted the Fortnightly Club Thursday with a lesson by Mrs Ole Tyee on the Rockwell City District Convention.
