Wright County Bureau of Military Affairs at Clarion war asset
The Wright County Bureau of Military Affairs met in Clarion to review cases of citizens reported by Liberty Loan Committees for supporting the war effort. Thirty four cases were handled, boosting Fourth Liberty Loan subscriptions and Red Cross donations. The group, led by Leslie W. Archerd, operated with state and federal backing and even used arrest powers when needed. Local farmers report another issue of diseased hogs suspected of malice, with several white pigs found in herds and suspected to be aimed at reducing pork supply.
