Income Tax Law Imposes 1 percent Over 2000
The new income tax law imposes a one percent levy on income above $2000 for all citizens and resident aliens. It applies to salaries trades estate and all income sources including foreign earnings. The first year returns cover earnings from May 1 1918 to March 1 1919 with payment due by June 30. Tax dodging is scrutinized and revenue officials will notify taxpayers of amounts due.
