Funeral services for Henry C Heggen 80 were held Friday at the Lake Lutheran church and home, burial in Lake cemetery. Born March 31 1862 in Polk County Iowa he lived near Renwick and married Anna Tjeranson Feb 2 1901. Survived by son Tjeran and daughters Anna Olive Gertrude, one grandchild Alien Heggen and three sisters. He was a longtime church member and community neighbor.

Fire Destroys $10,009 Farm House Saturday
Five miles south of Renwick Hum boldt county, Mrs. Lewis Stockdale’s farm house burned last Saturday afternoon. The loss is estimated at 10,000 dollars. The Goldfield fire department arrived too late, the roof a mass of flames. Leslie Stockdale discovered the blaze while plowing nearby. Neighbors moved furniture from the first floor as coal and cobs burned for days in the basement. the fire likely started from chimney sparks.

New 4 H Girls Club Organized In Renwick Area
A meeting last Saturday at Mrs. Geo Mills home organized a new 4 H Girls club with 16 members from Renwick and Vernon township. Mrs Mills elected leader and Mrs Myron Collings assistant leader. Visitors included Mrs Will Bigings of Laverne and Pvt Robert Bingings of Jacksonville Fla. Miss Louise Huntley now works as a nurse at the General hospital in Clarion. Tieran Neren enlists in the army air corps as aviation mechanic. Sam Nerem plans to enlist as aviation or radio mechanic next month.

Local School Students Collect 30 000 Pounds Scrap Metal
Renwick school students staged a scrap metal drive last Thursday afternoon collecting 30 600 pounds according to Supt F H Montgomery. Proceeds benefit the Junior Red Cross the USO and the school's activity fund. A parade led by the high school band preceded the event. Trucks and teams were donated and students worked about four hours searching the community for scrap.

Mandus Nelson remains in a Fort Dodge hospital after a corn elevator mishap last Thursday. A tumbling rod caught his clothing and pulled him under the machine tearing clothes and causing multiple broken ribs two punctured lungs and torn back muscles before he was freed. He is recovering slowly.
