Standard Bearers Host Potluck and Bake Sale Drive

The Standard Bearers met on Monday with leader Mrs. Ornest Helmke present. Joanne Jane led the devotion and Beaish Yanvey presented the lesson. A bake sale proceeds will go to the Baird Uniform Fund. The SCS Bridge Club met on the first Thursday afternoon at Mrs. A H Stafford’s home. A dessert bench was served at 1 30 followed by three tables of bridge. High score prize went to Mrs. AH Goetingh. second prize to Mrs. Hart Gimet Jow. draw prize to Mrs. Rasmussen. Guests included Mrs. Terry Mitchell and Mrs. William Nissen.

Fortnightly Club to meet at Mrs Stafford’s home and Spice Box. Berwick’s Woman’s Club meets at Mrs Lednard’s home. Alvin Enestrom to lead.

Mrs Mary Stockdale of Eagle Grove visited several days with Mr Win Hefti and with Mr and Mrs Grant Nesheim and family at the rental Pearson home in Dakota Phil Nesheim visited Marengo for a few days. Mac Farmer and son Jeter Chweeks family visits. Luther League served oyster supper at the church. A film on CROP funds followed. numerous Lerdal family gatherings noted. Tedies Aid met at church parlors with Mrs Andy Strand and Mrs Slemer Nerem hosting. Ida Beisell honored at family dinner.

City Council Minutes Proceedings November 7 1945

The regular meeting of the Tews council on November 7 1945 with May C A Packard present. All councilmen attended. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Several bills were read and approved including Western Hardware and Tool Co Richardson Seed Co Fairbanks Morse Co McKesson Robbins and others. The treasurer’s and state tax withholdings were noted. The motion to approve all bills as read by the finance committee passed. An application for a cigarette license by Jeanette Darland was read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and the meeting adjourned.
