In Townsend Street a gasoline store blast ignited a reservoir causing a fire that killed four members of a family and left others severely burned. Mrs Malm, awakened for breakfast, fled and returned with her 8 year old child as burning clothing scorched flesh. Neighbors and firefighters rescued the victims. Mrs Malm survived with comparatively minor burns.
