Roosevelt Returns and Grinnell Grads Head to Work

Equal Suffrage Mass Meeting Moves Campaign to June

Mrs. Sadie Passi of Humboldt and Mrs. Cora VanVelser Lambert of Chicago led local women at the Baptist Church to organize equal rights campaigning through June. A mass meeting at 8:30 p m heard a straw ballot showing men in favor, 22 to 5 with one maybe. An auto tour is planned May 25 with speeches, featuring Ex Governor J Still Wilson and Mrs Mabel Dunlay Curry, to rally support for the Iowa amendment.

Renwick Opens Season With 7 5 Win Over Hardy

Renwick defeated Hardy 7 to 5 in the home opener on a well maintained field. Hardy's errors kept the game close while Renwick benefited from their opponents misplays. The Hoys had a solid debut and community support grows as business backers push for more attendance. Only about 40 spectators attended the Friday afternoon contest.

Decoration Day Services at Vernon and Luni Cemeteries

Program calls for a 10 a.m. gathering to decorate graves at Vernon and Luni Cemeteries with flowers, urging every child present to lay a spray or wreath on each soldier’s grave. At 2:30 p.m. a Baptist church address by Rev. J. J. Share and special music follow.

Honorable Mention Pupils Earns Yearly Attendance Record

Hazel Peters Iva Peters and Mary Speich were neither absent nor tardy during the year ending May 19. Miss Iva holds nine years with perfect attendance. The records reflect student and parent interest in the school.

New School Library Adds 30 Volumes This Year

The Second Intermediate Room library received books over the past two weeks, including an eight volume self-pronouncing Universal Encyclopedia and several history geography and industry titles. This brings the yearly total to thirty volumes and the grand total to 1110 volumes.
