A baccalaureate service is scheduled for Sunday May 19 1969 at eight oclock in the Vernon Building Auditorium The Rev Glenn Emmert will preside with remarks by Rev Laurice Streythe and Rev Seadiey The mixed chorus will perform under Marie Schmita and Denice Henrikson will deliver the class motto Not Evening But Dawn Flower clash highlight is noted for the ceremony
Commencement events include processional invocation salutatory address and presentations. Mrs Charles J Lane observes her ninetyth birthday on Thursday May 16 at the home of her daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs A R Edgar in Ames. Her children invite friends and former neighbors to call at the Floyd Lane home Sunday afternoon May 19 from 2 to 5. Various local visits and gatherings are noted among neighbors and relatives in Ames and nearby towns.
Keith Baessler served as guest conductor directing a mass band of about 233 junior high students from multiple towns at the Calhoun County Junior Band Festival held Friday May 10. The BV veteran director has led bands for 14 years with 13 earning division one roputs at contests. BV congratulates him on directing the BV band at Lytton.
Jack Kerrigan program director of WHO TV Des Moines, a 33 year broadcasting veteran, will serve as commencement speaker. His long career spans WORX Davenport, WHO radio, and leadership roles in WHO TV programs. Kerrigan also leads choirmaster duties at St Ambrose Cathedral and activity with Broadcast Pioneers.
Polio vaccination with Sabin Type II will be offered at the final co sponsored clinic this Sunday at the Renwick school lunchroom from 11 4 to 2 pm Only Type II vaccine will be available. Mark calendars and attend to receive the polio vaccine.
The 1962-63 school year closes with May 17 award assembly at 2:20 pm in Vernon building, May 19 Baccalaureate at 8 pm, May 23 event at Vernon, May 27 Eighth Grade graduation, May 29 final day for seniors and others, May 30 Memorial Day, June 1 year-end mailing to parents, plans note remodeling progress and future use.
Kenneth Kolpin of Pomeroy signed to teach in Boone Valley Schools next year. He will coach high school football and track, Jr. high boys and girls basketball, and teach biology and science. Kolpin, a Westmar four year football letterman, is married with no family.
