The citizens zoning committee submits a proposed zoning plan to the Town Council of Ren wick. The map is displayed in the Renwick Savings Bank window for public viewing and comments. The council says the zoning ordinance will improve community stability and benefit future property owners.
Ray Reed Brophy born June 7 1928 in Britt Iowa died April 25 1960 at age 33. He lived in Hardy and Vernon schools worked on a farm then with a construction company. He married Carrie Knutson December 22 1947 and farmed near Hardy. Survived by wife two stepchildren mother Leah Brophy brothers and sisters and many relatives. The article notes a KYN club meeting hosted by Mrs Anna Block with scripture lessons and a social hour.

Evanorlical United sreteren Church Reuwitk invites Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. Mothers Day service honors mothers. Thursday choir rehearsal at 3 p.m. WSWS guests of St Paul Women of the Church on May 1 at 2 p.m. Fellowship birthday supper by WSWS on May 12 at 7 p.m.
Walter Krafts celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house at their Kanawha farm on May 1 from 2 to 4 pm. About 90 guests from Corwith, Kanawha, Britt, Ames, Humboldt and surrounding towns attended. the Krafts have two daughters Sandra and LaAnn and are longtime members of St Paul Lutheran.

Hospital notes report Leo Mimbach entered Bel mond Hospital for surgery on Tuesday. May 3 1980 Town Council met in regular session in the council room with Harris Heetland Schnetzer Palmer and Rademaker present. Mayor Block called meeting to order. Bills read and approved totaling 1551.89 87.50 with various suppliers and services listed. A motion to grant a close hour permit to Maynard Dean Waits passed.
The Bobcats finished fifth in the Bronco Relays at Belmond, earning a 36 percent point total from two first places a pair of seconds two fourths and a fifth. Highlights included wins in the 440 and 880 yard relays and strong showings from Dean Neuberger Randy Palmer Jerry Tjelle and Dave MandSager in multiple events. This was the first year of the Class B section with records set in the 440 and 880 yard relays likely to be surpassed in future years.
Boone Valley placed fifth in the North Star Conference track meet with 3414 points. Dean Neuberger tied for first in the high jump at 5 feet 4 inches. The 440 and 880 yard relays tied for first and third. Kanawha and Goldfield won, finishing first and second.
