Magic Island of Treasure Island Opens Vast World Fair
Thousands flock to Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay as the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition launches. The man made island hosts the Portals of the Pacific, the Tower of the Sun, and hangars and terminals for a future airport while bridges Bay and Golden Gate rise in the background.
