Renwick School District Election Notice 1944

Notice to Renwick Independent School District voters that the annual election will be held at the town hall on the second Wednesday in March from 12 noon to 7 pm. A director to serve three years replacing Anna Block and a treasurer for two years replacing Lillian McGowan will be elected. Dated February 26, 1934, G A Stoddard, Secretary. Renwick Wins Humboldt County Declam Contest

Renwick high school won the Humboldt County declamation contest held Wednesday night at the Livermore Auditorium, earning the large silver cup for heat three. John Palmer of Renwick led the oratorical with Pitfalls of Peace, followed by Max Ulrich of Dakota City in RopesI. Cath Maria of Ottosen won dramatic Wear God and Take Your Own Part, Clears Till Yon of Livermore placed second in The Shaw Must Go On. Roland Gullixson of Rode won humorous The Widow’s Mites, with Lloyd Swanson of Vernon Consolidated second. Mrs. Roeyink served as time-keeper and judges were Mr. Overmayer and assistants from Algona. The program featured county high school musical talent, including Renwick’s girls stringed sextet and Ottosen’s girls trio along with Bode high school orchestra and Livermore school chorus.

Farmers Institute Show Sets New Records Despite Weather

The Renwick Farmers' Institute boasted record entries and higher quality across most departments, despite cold weather and a Saturday snow. hogs were the exception. Officers elected for next year were F. Flemmig president, Roy McCarry vice president, Norman Peer secretary, Tolmi Sligeen treasurer, with business men and townspeople praised for support.

Senator W. R. Ritchie Seeks State Senate Nomination

Senator W. R. Ritchie of Marathal announces candidacy for the Republican nomination to succeed himself as State Senator. He is a popular figure in Mira section, known to many voters, praised as an interesting and forceful speaker and well informed on public questions. He is expected to appear locally again to campaign.

Next Term of Court Starts Monday March 12 Dakota City

The next term of the district court in Humbialdt county will convene at Vie court house in Dakota City on Monday March 12 with Judge J. C. Davidson presiding. The petit jury is called for Tuesday March 20. A large number of cases are on the docket. From Renwick and vicinity drawn for jury duty are Dick Hefty Mia Minnie Severson I. J. Smith and Andy Strand. Mira Ruth Peters, accompanied by Miss Annabell Purvinneo, of Gald Meld, spent the weekend at home.

Visit to Liver mor station highlights equipment and talk

We visited Livermore station WILES owned by C O Gustafson and met editor of Whittemore Champion. The editors traded remarks, enjoyed a telephone request for a song, and praised the station’s fine, costly setup and strong reception from other short wave outlets.

Renwick Creamery Lists Twenty five Highest Checks

The list shows twenty five patrons selling us cream amounting to over 26.00 for the first half of February 1924. Names include Harry Gibbs and Blumer Bros among others with figures varied. the paper plans a biweekly publication of the top twenty five patrons. Also notes Bird Day laws and school programs with Arbor Day guidance and a booklet from the State Department of Public Instruction.

Iowa Farmers Organize Corn Hog Control Committees

A nationwide push organizes township and county committees to manage the corn hog program in Iowa and other states. Sign up education continues as producer control associations form, contracts are reviewed by permanent township panels, and a new AAA record book aids inventories and planning. The Farm Credit Administration adds growers heavily involved in production to eligible short term loan lists.

Forty Miles of Gravel Road Plan Adopted by Hoch County

Hochboldt county officials meet in the courthouse to set a road program for the year. The plan calls for forty miles gravel surfacing and forty six miles new grading with Touls Laverude elected chair man along with an array of supervisors and township representatives. Reported mumps cases in the area include several adults and youths.
